Cristina Malcolmson is Professor Emerita of English at Bates College. Her most recent book is Studies of Skin Color in the Early Royal Society: Boyle, Cavendish, Swift (Ashgate, 2013). A collaborative article written with Ruth Paley (first author) and Michael Hunter on “Parliament and Slavery 1600-c.1700” appeared in the journal Slavery and Abolition in 2010. She edited with Mihoko Suzuki Debating Gender in Early Modern England: 1500-1700 (Palgrave, 2002). Her article “’What You Will’: Social Mobility and Gender in Twelfth Night” appeared in The Matter of Difference: Materialist Feminist Criticism of Shakespeare, ed. Valerie Wayne (Cornell, 1991).
